Perched on a rocky outcrop, the four castles proudly dominate the Orbiel Valley. It takes a 30 minutes walk to get to the castles but then… all four castles , Cabaret, Tour Regine, Surdespine and Quertineux await you . This site was an important place for the Cathars. A witness of the Crusade against these people. It was rebuilt and reorganised in the 13th century to defend the royal power of Capetian dynasty. The four towers stand proudly on the high ground with spectacular views over the surroundings.
The guided tour of Lastours can also include the discovery of the medieval castrum, which allows us to understand the daily life of the time.
