Guided tour of Lagrasse

In the guided tour of Lagrasse, you’ll discover one of the “most beautiful villages in France”. It is in the heart of the Corbières that the mighty Benedictine abbey Sainte-Marie de l’Orbieu reigns.

The Benedictine abbey was one of the first built under the reign of Charlemagne to protect the lands from the Sarrazins. The village was built, long after, under the protection of the abbots, on the bank facing the abbey.

Located on the paths of Santiago de Compostela, Lagrasse was home to one of the largest fairs in the region. Life and power were organized around the 14th century covent market.

Along this guided tour of Lagrasse you will see rich medieval houses with french ceiling and the Gothic Church of St. Michael.
